Gendut is a 2015 film directed by Eko Junianto and written by Tangguh Al Fatah. The cameraman is Darminto and Yahyo, and edited by Eko Junianto and Prio Pambudi. This film produced by Aris Prasetyo. The film cast Aji, Wildan, Nurokhim, Feri, Trismo, Ipin, Decha, Ni Mahin, Ni Lufi, and Harun. The film was uploaded to Eko Junianto’s YouTube channel on Maret 6, 2019. This film takes the theme of healthy.
The film tells the story of fat kid who is obsessed of being slim so that not to be bullied by his friend. Therefore he buy some medicine at a stall without a doctor prescription to lose his weight. But after taking the medicine, he often go to the toilet so he return to the previous stall to get more effective medicine. So the seller give him another medicine in form of powder and the seller also suggest that the medicine is taken by mixing the previous medicine. After that, he eat two packs at a time. Therefore he suffered a severe headache and ended up unconscious because a high dose of medicine.
This film was made to take part in the National Health Day Short Film Competition organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and get an award as the best shot movie of Ministry of Health film festival 2015.
In addition to Gendut movies, Eko Junianto had previously produced a film with the title 1 liter, which this film won an award as the best short movie Pertamina Expo 2015. This film tells the story of a seller who sells retail gasoline at a high price and cheat the buyers for various reasons.
Overall, Gendut is an excellent short film which the moral values can motivates people to more careful to doing something. Don’t get things we want it makes us take thoroughfare that can be to harm us. The writer skrip in the film also managed to bring a series of the conflict to make the story become more vibrant. This film portrays the scenic panorama of Panusupan and Tunjungmuli village.
